Soft Swedish Suede

Swedish perfumer Fredrik Dalman's latest creation for Mona di Orio is a scent that resonates in the soul of those of us that grew up (or indeed spent time ) in Scandinavia.
The inspiration comes from Fredrik's own childhood and his memories of winter evenings in northern Sweden. Long days skiing, -25 degrees outside, a crackling fire, mothers waffles with cloudberry jam, reindeer skins to keep you warm.

The fragrance opens a little unexpectedly with cedar, Sichuan pepper and castoreum*  that gives a somewhat  peppery impression.
*(the perfumer has chosen to use hyraceum which is a very good, cruelty-free alternative to the traditional version)

But that's just the beginning! When you let it settle down, it reveales a soft woody / fruity side through tart cloudberries, strawberry leaf and the osmanthus's leathery peach.

Once you get to know each other, it mellows down to an infinitely soft, woody and milky suede that embraces the skin like a warm, velvety glove.

This is a fragrance that is both exciting and comforting. It has a purity (musk) but is still earthy (patchouli) and sensual. A scent you will keep with you for a very long time, on your skin and in your memory.
